Our website address is: https://www.smalltownhumanist.org.  Protecting your private information is our priority.  This statement of privacy applies to www.smalltownhumanist.org and The Small Town Humanist and governs data collection and usage.  For the purposes of this privacy policy, unless otherwise stated, all references to The Small Town Humanist include www.smalltownhumanist.org and The Small Town Humanist.  The Small Town Humanist website is meant to be both informational and educational.  There will also be an E-commerce element added at a later date.  By using The Small Town Humanist website you consent to the data practice is described in this statement.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

As of the date that this privacy Policy is created and put into effect, June 6th, 2019, The Small Town Humanist not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties.

The Small Town Humanist may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third-party. The Small Town Humanist may share data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to The Small Town Humanist, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. The Small Town Humanist reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time.
