About The Author and His Inspirational Escape from the Jehovah’s Witness cult to Freedom and Happiness
This is going to not only be the About Me page but also the inspirational comeback story of how I escaped the dangerous religious cult known as Jehovah’s Witnesses.
But first, about my personal life currently. I love life and I couldn’t be a happier person. I have so much to be thankful for that gives me a foundation for a great life. My name is Jason and I am forty-five years old at the time that I’m launching this website and social media campaign. I have three amazing children, two great stepchildren and I get to be in love with the coolest woman in the world. Life is good! However, an easy life I certainly have not had…quite the contrary actually. Which brings us to the reason for this blog and website.
In short, religion and a life devoted to God governed my life for the first 30 years. Those years were as far from the perceived “wonderful life of purpose” that so many people believe a living a God-fearing life should give you. As you’ll learn further reading my very personal series of articles, “My Inspiring Comeback Story of Escape From the Most Dangerous Religious Cult in the World” allowing myself to be controlled by religion came unacceptably close to resulting in me losing my life. I decided that this was just unacceptable. I began questioning everything about myself and the particular set of rules that I was unfortunately indoctrinated into from birth. Who was I? Why was I? Was I really on the correct path for me?
I had an epiphany and decided I wanted a new life. I wanted to be nothing less than genuine. I wanted to be the best version of me that I could be with one main goal, playing my part in the history of the evolution of our amazing and unprecedented species…to leave the biggest footprint I could on this life while I was here. I also woke up just enough to realize that I was in a full-blown mind controlling religious cult. I rigorously fought my way out from under the control of what I view as the most dangerous and intelligently devised religious cult in the world, Jehovah’s Witnesses. This fight I nearly lost on more than a few occasions. I eventually got away from it figuratively and psychologically, finding true peace and contentment. Then came the time to rebuild my life. I discovered the greatest resource for being a truly empathetic integral part of the evolution of the human race…MYSELF! It became so clear to me that we have the greatest source of goodness inside of us. That happiness and goodness does not come from a set of rules or from religion. When working together we have the greatest potential for true growth as a species, solving our problems and advancing as a species. And there it was…I am a Humanist.
What is a Humanist?
The definition of Humanism according to yourdictionary.com is as follows:
(noun) – “ a belief that human needs and values are more important than religious beliefs, or the needs and desires of humans. An example of humanism is the belief that the person creates their own set of ethics. ”
A Humanist believes in the goodness we have inside. The strength that is behind our evolution and why we have made it from our beginnings to the amazing beings that we are. A Humanist does not have a morbid hatred of religious people but more of disdain for the psychological restrictions that it induces in people. A Humanist believes that the answers do not lie in a book of stories written by men that were supposedly inspired by voices in their heads, then translated a multitude of times by thousands of people across centuries during a time period of extremely primitive recording of historical facts. A Humanist believes in demanding proof before belief, questioning everything, actively helping people instead of saying words in their head asking an entity in the sky to help them.
Atheism?
You may have noticed that the definition alludes to an atheistic approach to living life as a Humanist. It is, and shall always remain, my goal to at all times use this continuing global conversation for helping people, helping all of us work towards the continual growth, evolution, and improvement of the human race. There is no getting around the fact that we are promoting a life governed solely by our internal strength and goodness as opposed to putting any stock whatsoever in anything supernatural. That being said, most Humanists are also atheists at least to some degree. Many parts of our conversations will inevitably be at times about Atheism as well. When discussing atheism or any sensitive subject in our discussions the intent will always be based on reasoning and critical thinking to challenge our minds towards forwarding growth. The intention will never be to put forth straight up religion bashing articles guided by anger and emotion.
